Non specific immunity is innate, that is, it is acquired through birth. It involves the first and second lines of defence and is comprised of components and mechanisms that prevent the entry of pathogens and defend against infection in a way that is the same for any invading pathogen. Non specific immunity provides instant protection against disease. Non specific immunity includes physical barriers and chemical barriers and distinction of pathogenic cells that have entered the body where there is a generic response to all pathogens.
